Our Services

Open Pass logo - online service which allows customers kin to read updated reports from anywhere

Gracious Care services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission but we use electronic systems which exceed their requirements, helping us to offer you a better service. Our staff are rostered using Careplanner. On arrival at a customer's home they will scan a unique barcode which is printed on the cover of the customer file, using their mobile phone. This sends a message to let us know the exact time the call started. The integrated software called Open Pass also allows staff to record important information such as changes in the condition of the customer. This information is then available to our office staff to help us make decisions and recommendations for future visits. Importantly, these notes can be made available to loved ones so that they can have up-to-date information on their mobile phone, wherever they are. This can be particularly reassuring when the relatives are on holiday or when they live a long way away. In practice, we find that folk find this helpful and a comfort even when they live close by.

Our staff then use the same system to scan the barcode as they leave, giving reassurance that the visit has taken place and recording what was found.

Advocacy

Gentleman choosing ready meals from a catalogue

Many of our customers have been surprised by the range of financial assistance available to help fund care. We provide a free advocacy service to help you negotiate the blizzard of forms and applications necessary when considering how you can make home care affordable.

Our need for support can increase rapidly in the case of a sudden hospitalisation or illness, or gradually, perhaps over months or years as our ability to care for ourselves naturally diminishes with age.

When increasing need for support is gradual, it may be hard to define exactly when and what support would be effective and required. The free Gracious Care home care needs assessment can be transformational. We take account of all aspects affecting the customers situation, including, but not restricted to: environmental impediments; physical and cognitive capability; proximity and availability of friends and relatives; suitability of existing aids. We frequently signpost local authority and other services to our customers when these would be helpful, using our local knowledge. And if home care is required, we will be able to recommend the appropriate level of assistance and make recommendations concerning available funding.

Of course, you might have access to sufficient resources for care from your private means, but that shouldn't stop you drawing on freely available allowances from central funds, to which we've all contributed through our taxes and to which we're all entitled when we need care.

Whatever the circumstances, it can be difficult to accept that we aren't as able as we once were. Even a minimal level of help can make a world of difference. We can use our many years of experience to help make the, perhaps daunting, prospect of jumping through the those funding hoops and we'll be beside you every step of the way.

Attendance Allowance

Attendance Allowance is a tax-free benefit for people over 65 who need help with personal care such as getting in and out of bed, washing, eating, medication or mobility, or because they can become confused and need to be watched over. Attendance Allowance is not affected by savings and is usually unaffected by any other income you may have.
